  • Charge cooler radiator

Hi lads, had a bit off a problem this morning when a large hare decided to have a suicide mission involving my car. The thing has cracked my bumper, bent my grill and smashed into my chargecooler radiator. The problem I have is I am 170 miles away from home working and need to get home this weekend. I drove about 60 miles today after the accident with a leak on the radiation just keeping off the boost and watching the Temps on the scan gauge. I am just wondering weather I will be able to make it home just going easy and keeping off the boost again as my Temps where maxing at about 38 and lower at times??

    Please help.

I ran mine home few months back with no chargecooler pump, with scangauge and it didn't go above 9degC. Was a 120mile drive mainly motorway speeds but in traffic no change

You be fine with those temperatures.
Keep an eye @ inlet temperature on your way home.

Hey, everybody. Are you talking about an engine inlet temp of 9 degrees? My scanner shows 45-47 degrees on the intake air, in normal normal driving. Is that not normal? How can the temperature be 9 degrees? Tell me more please. What should the temperature readings be?

What do you mean by ‘disconnecting the supercharger’? You mean you've turned off the turbo boost? Is that possible?

If you are seeing intake temps of 45-47°c i would be fairly certain in saying your chargecooler pump has packed up, or you have no coolant in the system due to a leak (internal or external). Upon normal driving the intake temps should be somewhere around the ambient temperature. This will climb as its driven harder but shouldnt be reaching the numbers you are seeing.

Thanks for the reply. I saw that when you wrote about 9 degrees, it was January, so it's fine. Really I think my pump needs the brushes replaced, as after 30 minutes of driving the temp rises to 56 degrees. And the cooler box is really hot to the touch. So I'm not driving the car now until I take the pump off and check it. Hopefully replacing the brushes will solve the problem. Before and after replacement I will try to connect it with wires to 12V battery to check the operation. I hope that I will replace the pump.
