  • Inlet manifold

Does the inlet manifold from a 1.6 focus fit our cars by any chance?
Any info greatly appreciated as I've found one on eBay saying it fits just want to be sure first before buying it.

deffo not, as 1.6 out of a focus is a Yamaha engine badged as zetec, inlet mani is in front of the engine whereas ours is at the rear of the engine.
an inlet manifold of a mk5 escort or mk1/2 mondeo 1.6 zetec might fit as that is also a 'real' ford zetec engine so with the inlet at the rear of the engine, although I can not assure you it will fit.

Stick with a 2 litre as they fit, so does a 1.8 I believe. There's a couple on eBay at the moment

I think the standard 1.8 - 2.0 zetec inlet manifolds are made of 2 pieces glued together therefore they are not designed to hold the boost, I think they will crack. The inlet manifold is RS specific, it has similar shape but made out of one mold.

Cheers guys for the support, what I thought may have been an air leak was in fact a weak battery when I ran it up to the garage today as it was cranking over slowly. When first starting up was a bit lumpy on tick over but thank you to S1 RST, Nemo and Tamas. I was also told by the boys at Sabre you can use a Zetec black top inlet on these as they are the same for future reference but the support is greatly appreciated.

The reason I thought it was the inlet as I had new non return valve hoses fitted after having the head off due to spark plug end snapping, taking the exhaust valve out due to it over boosting caused by one of the non return valves splitting and collapsing which was costly so I had all 3 none return valve pipes replaced with Roose Motorsport ones to prevent the same happening again. Was running lumpy on start up but not all the time when running all is fine.
