  • Best Battery

Well, my battery went flat again after being on holiday two weeks. I've owned RS 3 years end of this month and still the same battery on as when I bought the car. I've charged many of times now so I would like to know the best battery to buy as decided to buy a new one. I'm 280ish bhp if this makes a difference.

Standard Ford Calcium Battery is best, anything else won't work correctly with the Ford Smart Charge system.
Finis is 1672940. Its a 43AH 390A, doesn't matter what bhp you are running.

Found a good price on one on ebay via a Ford dealer:

If the car has stood for two weeks it is common that they do drain, has always been a problem with the Focus RS.

Can remember having a new battery on my last car under the Ford Warranty due to loosing charge.

I've got a Bosch S5 on mine and its awesome. Never ending power. Was only £62 delivered as well from discountcarparts.co.uk I think. Got Emma the same too as hers stands without trickle charge for long periods and hers has always started first time since i fitted it for her :)

Yeah the standard is the 063 but we have the 075 and still fits the tray. Also has more power. If you google search for a discount code you'll save another fiver ;)

Don't forget that extra weight of the bigger battery will reduce the power to weight by 0.02bhp per ton

Best thing to do is take the battery out if the car is being stood for a while without being started. Thats what i do and it only takes less than 5 minutes to put it back in and re- connect it. The car starts every time i do this with no issues.

I take it you've removed the standard GT alarm? If you haven't you need to be carefull because its likely to ruin it sooner or later doing this.
