  • Front Hubs

    Good morning all

I will shortly be removing the front hubs (or I think Ford call them Knuckles) for refurbishment. Are there any pitfalls, or possible problems, issues I need to be aware of (driveshaft falling out of gearbox maybe). Any tips that would make the job less hassle would be greatly appreciated. I have already purchased new pinch bolts for the lower joint.

    Thank you in advance.

I’d loosen the driveshaft nuts before you remove the wheels.
Driveshaft itself won’t fall out of the gearbox.
Trace some bearings as they are RS specific.

As Bart said, nothing really special, but might be good practice to spray some penetrating oil on all bolts couple days beforehand as these tend to be rusty as hell.
As for bearings, mondeo mk3 ones are good to use.

Cheers Buddy good info on wheel bearings. My bearings are actually good bearings still. I am taking the hubs off to rub down and paint. I might get away with bearings, I will see how it goes. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Out of interest, is it any MK3 Mondeo or is it specific years and model?

I noticed DPC has bearings, £60 each.

I need to do my hubs too. I want to change the bearing for the new season. SKF is a very good solution and costs 4 times cheaper than the original. Are the 3575's a good fit? Will they work with ABS sensor ?
