  • Exhaust options downpipe, bore etc

Hi all. I have Milltek at present from turbo back with de cat downpipe. I want to fit a sports cat. My options are I can purchase a Milltek 100 or 200 cell sport cat to weld into my current downpipe or go for a BCS or Piper 3" downpipe with sports cat already fitted up . Anyone know what diameter/bore the Milltek downpipe is? Is it 70mm?
Anyone got experience in going from a smaller bore to a 3" downpipe and has a noticeable difference been seen with regards to turbo spool etc.
    I hope you can help.

    Thanks. Lee.

I have a 3 inch system right through on my car. Dont know about figures but i suspect it will show more torque when its back on the rollers plus EGT will be lower. I had the exhaust custom made turbo back because there are really only two options off the shelf for 3 inch as you've found.
    BCS and Piper.
I believe both are harder to come by now than they were. Arent BCS made order anyway?

Unless you're going to replace the whole system what are your plans with mating the existing exhaust system onto the 3 inch downpipe?

      I have a Milltek 200cell cat, it's 2,75" (70mm).

It was fitted to a 3" BCS system until I decided to go 3" all the way (cat deleted).

There is an exhaust currently advertised on facebook marketplace which looks like a piper 4" tailpipe.

Hi Dan. I can get a reducer to fit the downpipe to my existing Milltek system if need be, I have no issue in waiting if it is made to order. If chose to go down the BCS route.
I'm just not sure where to go with it now. All I know is I want a sports cat for sure. Any further thoughts?

          Thanks. Lee.

              Hi Bart.
So you junked the sports cat and went 3" all the way through...nice. Did you see much difference in low down turbo spool?

              Thanks.

Hard to say, the reason I went for 3” was that I had the car mapped at Sabre. Went from 270 bhp to 410. Well that was a difference lol.

I bet it was a huge difference. How does the car handle the torque steer at that power? You got a standard Quaife diff too or you uprated the diff?

              Thanks Lee.

Hi Lee, I went for the BCS 3” system with their sports cat and think it was a piper before. I don’t have figures but I could feel a difference in spool up and the BCS system is very well made and fits perfectly.

Positive report from me after changing from GGR Sportcat & Mongoose system to full BCS. Difference was very noticeable in spool up and no drone. You wouldn't be disappointed.
A friend recently went for the same and BCS made very quickly, he's just waiting for downpipe to be coated, which isn't down to BCS

The BCS is a highly regarded system and many Focus RS owners have them fitted from Group Buys we have arranged, with lots of positive feedback from owners.

If any member is interested in the BCS system then please let me know as we can arrange a club member discount.

Have a look on the BCS website of the system and let me know. I will then email BCS to arrange a good saving for you.
