Antifreeze / Coolant

Hi guys,

Any Ford tech guys on here?

I want to buy some Antifreeze/coolant. I have been using Ford Super Plus Premium.
From what I can see now it has been replaced by a product called Poat antifreeze/coolant. I want it just purely for topping up should need it, but internet says the two products cannot be mixed??

Surely that is not the case. Can anybody put my mind at rest as I dont want to drain the whole system just for a maintenance top up.

Do you know when your coolant was last changed? Maybe change the coolant completely, it would be useful as a preventive measure! and choose a good antifreeze, the one that matches our engines?

Hi Bob, Total coolant change last winter only using genuine Ford antifreeze/coolant.
Had the charge cooler out again this winter for some remedial work.
Cooling system topped up.
Engine fired up and run yesterday for the first time since last October.
Coolant needed topping up in charge cooler reservoir.
Used up what I had in stock.
Would now like to buy some more for stock
Previously from Ford it was called Ford Super Plus Premium.
I went to buy some yesterday and all I can find is what is now called POAT.
Hence my question to a parts man or Ford tech.
Has POAT now superseded Super Plus Premium?
Can it be mixed?

That right, Ford replaced all coolants with the POAT.
Mixing with old coolant (orange/pink) is NOT recommended.
Personally I would go for aftermarket stuff like Motul that meets the approval (WSS-M97B44-D).
The new spec (POAT) is WSS-M97B57-A1.

With initial great help from WRC Mechanic (I wish people would use proper names on here), that's a topic for another day lol.

I have done my research as well and come up with this product which is totally safe and suitable for our cars and can be mixed when using as a top up.

Motul Auto Cool Optimal - 37c Car Antifreeze-Coolant- Ready to use. (Comes in 1 litre, 5 litre or 20 litres)

Obviously other brands should be available.

For our cars, it must meet the following standard WSS-M97B44-D

Yes, not in the car yet but bought all the parts and service items I need to get the car back on the road this year along with a few upgrades.
